Less stress - better performance
Content: Stress is a challenge in many areas including research. It is a challenge in many ways. The first challenge is to talk about stress. For some people, stress is taboo. Other people talk too much about it. Different people understand the word stress differently. In this lecture, you will get a scientific approach to stress, that is quite well defined. You should accept the complexity of stress, and not try to simplify it into something biological and individual.
It is not sufficient to know what stress is. You will also get easily usable tools to help your PhD students not to get chronically stressed. Chronic stress both reduces the quality of research and personal life quality. You will even get some tools that you can use yourself to prevent and cope with your stress. Your stress has a negative impact on your research, and a stressed supervisor produces stressed PhD students.
After this lecture, you will have a better understanding of stress, and you will be inspired to do something to prevent stress and manage stress, both your own and your PhD students’. You will think differently about different things. Doing something different is not always enough. Thinking differently is often the solution.
